Thank You for Showing Up at Break the Ice on Stigma
This past weekend at Howard Park in South Bend, something truly special happened.
Life Treatment Centers was honored to host our very first Break the Ice on Stigma event! A night centered on recovery, connection, and community. Thanks to all of you, it was more than an event – it was a reminder of how powerful it is when people come together!
A Night of Celebration, Support, and Togetherness
As our CEO Amy shared while standing rinkside:
“We’re out here at Howard Park celebrating our first Break the Ice on Stigma event!”
From the first skaters on the ice to the families cheering each other on, the night was filled with encouragement, laughter, and something recovery always needs – community.
Clinical Director Sheila Miller captured the heart of it best:
“This is a recovery-oriented event to celebrate people that are in recovery, and have a great place for them and their families to come together and support each other.”
An Incredible Turnout And Not a Surprise
We were genuinely moved by the number of people who showed up.
The rink was full. The energy was real, and the message was loud and clear that recovery is stronger when we do it together.
As Sheila said:
“It’s an amazing turnout so far! The recovery community, they come together for each other. They show up.”
This community has always been built on resilience, support, and showing up for friends, for family, for strangers – for one another.
The turnout wasn’t just impressive. It was who we are. We had over 100 people in attendance and over 70 individuals who got out on the ice!
Gratitude for Our Sponsors and Community Partners
Events like this don’t happen without partnership, and we want to extend our sincere appreciation to the sponsors and supporters who helped make Break the Ice on Stigma possible.
Your generosity created a welcoming space where recovery could be celebrated openly and stigma could be left at the door. It takes a village, and we are grateful to share ours with you.
Moving Forward Together
Break the Ice on Stigma was more than skating.
It was hope.
It was connection.
It was proof recovery is not a solitary journey.
To everyone who attended, thank you for being part of this first chapter. If this night showed us anything, it’s that our community is strong, compassionate, and always ready to support each other.
We can’t wait for what comes next!
